Coming In Hot

11/23/2022 at 6:30pm EST

Good evening and welcome to one and all on this Thanksgiving Eve. The Wings are coming in hot tonight to begin a five game home stand after a decent road trip which saw them take five of eight possible points.
They’ve enjoyed back to back wins with big contributions coming from the defense corps. Hronek is leading the way this season on the back end, with every one making big contributions. The D have combined for six goals in the last two games, and Husso has to get his props as well. After all, the goalie is the last line of defense. It’s a nice change from what we were used to watching. During this trip, Seider scored his first goal of the season as well as T-Bert. I’ve said enough for now, as not to jink the team. Knock on wood….

As always, I will say that how very thankful I am for Paul Kukla, for giving us a place to gather for what seems like a very long time now. For Bill Houlihan, our founder and Chief, who we miss, and encourage him to visit more often, and most of all, for each and every one of you 19 rascals that manage somehow to have made the time we’ve spent here a great reminder of what time well spent means. Through good times which were many, and the bad patches which we have endured.
We’re a tight knit group around here, but will welcome anyone, anytime. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

It’s the Preds vs the Wings. The puck is set to drop at 7:00 PM, and will be broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit). Also available on NHLPP/ESPN+ and BSSO.

Going For Two In A Row

11/19/2022 at 6:30pm EST

The Wings will finish their road trip tonight in Ohio after finally getting a win out West. It was a game that could have gone either way, but, the Wings looked like they were playing better as the game went on. Let’s not kid ourselves, the Sharks goalie gifted them a couple of goals, and, tonight the Wings will be going for two wins in a row.

The Wings should know by now that they cannot afford to start any game down by a goal, and need to start a game, playing with the same intensity they show in the last half of every third period. There are still some bad habits that need to be broken, an understatement, eh? Nonetheless, let’s just try to enjoy watching this young team grow, and the veteran presence guiding them along.

It’s the Wings vs the Blue Jackets. The puck is set to drop at 7:00 PM, and will be broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit). Also available on NHLPP/ESPN+ and BSOH.

Angry And Hungry

11/17/2022 at 10:00pm EST

Heya 19. After losing the last four games, it’s high time that the Wings come in as the team that is angry, and, hungry. They’re still too soft, missing that snarl, that edge, that will give them the extra boost they need to win the close games. I’ve seen the talk around here(meaning KK)and other sports outlets. One day it’s all doom and gloom, the next day it’s the Wings have a shot. All that matters is how they play tonight.

Also, I’m a bit perturbed that another player is wearing #96.(No offense to Walman.)Homer is legend IMHO. He perfected the net front presence position, and I’ve yet to see anyone do it better. I never really thought the Wings would retire his number, but, whatever……

It’s the Wings vs the Sharks. The puck drops tonight at 10:30 PM ET/7:30 PM PT and will be broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit). Also available on NHLPP/ESPN+ and NBCSCA.

Another Late Game

11/15/2022 at 9:30pm EST

Hello everyone and welcome to another late game for those of us in the Eastern part of the country. For those of you in the West, must be nice.(Just kidding.) Tonight we are expecting the return of Tyler Bertuzzi, a big plus for the Wings and the fans. Also, Lindstrom is listed as day to day.
As we all know, the guys made a third period push last outing, but, too little too late. I’m expecting a much better effort tonight against the Ducks. Seriously…….

It’s the Wings vs the Ducks. The puck drops at 10:00 PM ET/ 7:00 PM PT, and will be broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit). Also NHLPP/ESPN+, BSW, and SN1.

Road Trip

11/12/2022 at 10:00pm EST

Hi y’all and welcome to tonight’s game. For those of us here, I hope you’re all ready to pull a half- nighter. It’s a late start to begin the road trip, and, the Wings need to knuckle down and play some of their best hockey right now. There’s no sense in dwelling on the last outing. It’s done and gone. The Wings need to come back to Detroit with some more points in the standings right before Thanksgiving, or, the quarter pole as it’s referred to.

It’s the Wings vs the Kings. The puck drops at 10:30 PM ET/7:30 PM PT, and will be broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit). Also BSW and NHLPP/ESPN+.

Another Tough Game

11/10/2022 at 6:30pm EST

Good evening and welcome to all. Tonight the Wings will be facing an angry, and hungry Rangers team, so they better be prepared for a tough game. Jonatan Berggren will make his NHL debut, Sundqvist is expected to be back in the lineup, and Givani Smith has been called up as well. Soderblom is out for tonight, listed as day to day.

As long as the Wings can stick to the game plan, they seem able to compete against anyone. Keeping that in mind, here’s hoping….

It’s the Rangers vs the Wings in an Original Six matchup. The puck drops tonight at 7:00PM, and will be broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit). Also on NHLPP/ESPN+ and MSG.

Fingers Crossed

11/08/2022 at 6:30pm EST

Good evening and welcome to one and all. Tonight’s matchup is against a more than likely hungry, and, angry opponent. The Wings better be ready for another tough, hard game against Montreal. I’m not going into any details, because my superstitious nature will not allow it.

Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that the Wings will show up tonight and play very, very well, and have good luck on our side.

It’s the Habs vs the Wings in an Original Six matchup. The puck drops tonight at 7:00 PM, and will be broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit). Also NHLPP/ESPN+, TSN2, and RDS.

Back To Back

11/06/2022 at 4:30pm EST

Heya everyone. I’m really hoping the Wings finish off this weekend on a high note and keep the forward progress in motion. We have a young team, so, the back to back games should be doable. Here’s hoping once again…

A Matinee Game

11/05/2022 at 12:00pm EDT

Good afternoon to you all. Today’s matinee game will feature the celebration of the Red Wings1998 Stanley Cup team. While it’s been really nice to look back and remember how good things were, it’s time to move forward and make this team better, or, at least better in the near future.

The fans in Detroit are hoping the Wings can close out the celebrations with another win, and it won’t be easy. The Islanders are coming in riding a five game winning streak. As we like to say around here, “let’s hope for the best.”

Pre game festivities will air on Bally Sports Detroit at 12:00 PM.

Reminiscing

11/03/2022 at 6:00pm EDT

Good evening to everyone. Tonight’s game is going to be played before a crowd that mostly will remember the glory days of the memorable Wings teams that were an NHL powerhouse for many, many years. The Wings are celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Cup Team that ended a 42 year drought.
While reminiscing is nice, most of the players on this Wings team today were youngsters, toddlers, or, maybe not even born way back then. They get to learn firsthand from the guys that raised the Cup all those years ago. But, the game has changed since the good old days, and it’s time to look forward and make new memories. We should all enjoy tonight’s celebration for what it’s worth, while keeping our eyes on the future. Enjoy!

The pre game festivities are set to begin around 6:PM and will be broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit.

It’s the Capitals vs the Wings. The puck drops tonight at 7 PM and will be broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit). Also NHLPP/ESPN+.

A Solid Effort

10/31/2022 at 6:30pm EDT

The Wings bounced back the other night and pulled off a win against a decent Wild team. Every player worked hard, and Lucas Raymond scored twice, potting his first two goals of the season. There will be 19 of us hoping for more of the same all around solid effort tonight.

The puck drops at 7 PM, and will be broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit Extra and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit). Also NHLPP/ESPN+.

Not Expecting Much

10/29/2022 at 6:30pm EDT

There’s not much to add regarding the horrific game the other night. All we can do is to look forward and see what happens, one game at a time. If I’m being honest, I’m not expecting much. If there is one thing this team does well, it is to disappoint, and, that is something I will never accept as standard. So, welcome for as long as you wish to stay around here tonight.

It’s the Wild vs the Wings. Puck drops at 7:00 PM, and will be broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit). Also NHLPP/ESPN+.

This Is A Test

10/27/2022 at 6:30pm EDT

Tonight’s game is one way of looking at how the Wings measure up so far, by playing against one of the better teams in the league right now. We’ve has some success, but, this is a test. I’m not saying other opponents have been easy marks, they haven’t been, but, the Bruins are a better team than most of the teams we’ve faced so far this season.

Matt Luff is in for Sundqvist tonight due to an upper body injury. As always, all we expect from the Wings is an honest effort, and, to entertain and engage the fans.

It’s the Wings vs the Bruins in an Original Six stand-off. The puck drops tonight at 7 PM, and is broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit). Also available on NESN and NHLPP/ESPN+.

One Game At A Time

10/25/2022 at 6:30pm EDT

Well, well, well. Who would have thought we’d be having such an enjoyable time watching hockey this early in the season? So far, so good, eh? One has to think this team is a pleasant surprise for all Wings fans.
Obviously we can’t get too far ahead of ourselves, so, let’s just enjoy what’s happening right now, one game at a time, and leave it at that.

It’s the Devils vs the Wings. The puck drops tonight at 7 PM, and will be broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit). Also available on NHLPP/ESPN+ and MSG.

Too Soon To Panic

10/23/2022 at 4:30pm EDT

The Wings seemed to forget how to close out a game the other night, but, it’s too soon to panic in regards to the rest of this season. We all knew going forward this is a team with a new coach, and a new coaching staff, as well as a few new players that hopefully will get it going sooner rather than later.
No excuses though. These are paid professionals that are expected to make the maximum effort, as well as keep the fans engaged, and entertained.

It’s an early game today with the Ducks vs the Wings. The puck drops at 5 PM, and will be broadcast exclusively on ESPN. You can also listen at Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit).

Three Games In

10/21/2022 at 8:00pm EDT

The Wings are three games into the season and I’d have to say, so far so good. We’re missing two top performers in Bert and Vrana, but oh well, that’s how it goes. It’s too early to make any judgment calls on this group, that for all intents and purposes, are still getting to know each other on and off the ice. That includes the coaching staff as well.
Let’s just say, it’s been fun and exciting to watch Red Wings games for a change and leave it at that for a few weeks.

Tonight’s match up is Wings vs Hawks in Chicago, “that wonderful town.” The puck drops at 8:30 PM and is broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit Extra, and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit). Also available on NHLPP/ESPN+.

What To Think?

10/17/2022 at 6:30pm EDT

I’m just like all Wings fans right now. Only two games into this season and I’m not sure what to think. The atmosphere on the ice is calm and collected, and we see the coaching staff making adjustments throughout the game. It’s noticeably different from what we’ve been watching these past few seasons so, no complaints. Just hope for the best as usual, and try not to get our hopes up too high, too soon.

Bert is out for a while, and hopefully this newfound depth will sustain the team as far as goals, and, grit. Vrana has the night off for personal reasons, and Zadina is back in.

Congratulations are in order for former Red Wing, #15 Paul Woods aka Woodsie, who will be celebrating game #3000 in the booth tonight. It’s a big deal.

It’s Kings vs Wings. The puck drops at 7 PM, and will be broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit). Also watch on NHLPP/ESPN+

A Fresh Start

10/15/2022 at 6:45pm EDT

One game is just that, one game, but last night’s game looked like a fresh start for one and all. Lalonde and his staff continued to make the necessary adjustments throughout the game. Soderblom was the pleasant surprise scoring his first NHL goal in his first game, the first goal of the new season, as well as the GWG. My, my, how sweet that is. Not to mention a great job by Husso as well.
So many players were playing the right way, it’s just a lot to take in in one outing, but, I am cautiously optimistic since the roster has changed a bit. Tonight’s game is on the road, so a different test. This group of young players, with a few of our core guys still around, and a smattering of vets look formidable.

It’s Wings vs Devils. The puck drops tonight at 7 PM on Bally Sports Detroit, and, the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket). Also, NHLPP/ESPN+ and MSG.

Greetings to the 19, and, to all who may want to jump in this year. We’re back for another exciting season of Detroit Red Wings Hockey. Tonight’s home opener, Montreal vs Detroit, is an Original Six classic. Also, we’d like to welcome all the new players into the fold.

There is so much to talk about this season, the “Yzerplan”, new players, young players, and we’ll get to that as the season progresses. For now though, let’s enjoy the first regular season game in this beautiful new home brought to us by no other than Paul Kukla. Thank you Paul, so very much.

The puck drops at 7:00 PM and will be broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network 97.1 (The Ticket in Detroit.) Also on NHLPP/ESPN+ depending on your location.
