Team Stats

Detroit goals are below.

Unbelievable how this team just collapses with Larkin out of the lineup.🤬

TreKronor

This team has been so emo this season.

When they are good, they are great. When they are bad, they are horrible. We'll either sneak into the playoffs or be the first team to miss.

akwingsfan

where is all this veteran leadership that GMSY was touting?

where is a coaching staff that makes difference?

where is a  compete level that says "not on my watch"

Paulakwingsfan

Every loss seems to be the same, crowd the next, shoot from the point.  Either it goes in or the rebound does.

copp, fabbri, perron, rasmussen, veleno,  holl, petry, ghost, chariot, reimer, lyon, hussoat least half of these guys have to be gone next year.

You're being generous. The only two out of that group that I'd keep are Chairot and Lyon.

Bill_H

Our top line played well but Petry and Chariot were abysmal.  They gave up shots, scoring chances, and goals.  I can't believe Edvinsson isn't better than most of DET's defense.  Our famous depth played poorly too.

VPalmer

Where is the team that beat the Blues and the Capitals or even the one played against the Panthers.

If Patrick Kane re-ups with the Wings he's not going to win another Cup in his NHL lifetime.

Maybe one of the reasons the Sabres were so on-fire tonight is that they were "auditioning" for Kane. He's got the roots there, and they showed him (and the Wings) what a well-organized and motivated team they are.

The game in Detroit should be more of the same from them. The Wings need to have a plan and a mindset to counter it or they're toast.

calquakeOlderThanChelios

Makes you wonder what's really wrong with the Wings. Personnel? Coaching? Or maybe even management? Whatever it is, it's not working.

from Kevin Allen of Detroit Hockey Now,

With the win, the Sabres are now only five points behind Detroit. The Red Wings gave up seven goals to a team that has scored three or fewer goals in 14 of their last 17 games.

Another Poor Start

Rough start, Coach Derek Lalonde told Bally Sports. We gave a top player a breakaway just over a minute into the game. Cant feed their offense, their skilled guys. We want to make it hard on them. We gave them easy offense. And then we just got chasing it. We got out of structure a little bit. I think we got a little bit rattled and obviously that was the first period.

Poor starts have been a problem throughout the losing streak.

Its for sure a mentality thing, Detroits Lucas Raymond said. I think we, if you look at the three periods, weve had really tough starts. It kind of gets ourselves in a hole to kind of dig out. Thats a huge thing for us. We need to come out with better starts to keep us in it and just find a way to win hockey games.

Detroit coach Derek Lalonde said earlier that the game in Buffalo wasnt a must win. But it was a must play well. That didnt happen. The Red wings played better in the loss to Vegas Saturday then it did against Buffalo.

We got to fight out of it, Lalonde said. Even after the second period stay positive with it, well play through it. Well get an opportunity again on Thursday. We just need to fight with some positives here. Its disappointing because we showed some signs in Vegas with some positive team play, especially in that third period, and then we just didnt have it tonight. We were slow. They played with way better pace. It looked like a huge mismatch. We got to figure it out.

I am surprised Lalonde does not play Lyon in back to back games.

How about mixing up the lines?

damndogrevenge

Why is Petry Dish in the line up. Bring up big Ed from GR!

At some point, this "collapse" is going to fall on LaLonde. These slow starts and lackadaisical play are killing them.

I'm really disappointed no player has stepped up to fill the Larkin leadership void. Someone needs to tell it like it is and quite trying to spin it as one poor outing.
