The road hasn't been a kind place, this four-game road trip ending with an absolute thud, a 7-3 loss on Tuesday in Buffalo, stretching the Wings' losing streak to six games.
"Awful start," coach Derek Lalonde said. "We had no legs, no pace, they were playing fast and we give them that easy offense early on and then we just got rattled and got out of our structure.
"It just piled up in the first period."...
"We all know that game was just put out there wasn't what we need at this time of the year," defenseman Jeff Petry said. "Especially with the circumstances we have on hand, and everybody realizes that. We know we have to be better.
"They came out and dictated the pace and we gave them too much space to enter our zone and neutral zone early on."...
"We're running out (of time)," Lalonde said. "Luckily we've had some stretches in our season to keep us in this battle but you'll run out of time. Our focus will be the first period on Thursday, a good start on Thursday."...
"With our six-game win streak and how good we were for a stretch there, our goaltending was outstanding," Lalonde said. "But this is not on the goaltending at all. We let the goalies out to dry."...
"We just need to start off simple, get pucks deep and I know it's cliche but that's what has been working for us," Raymond said. "Skating and getting pucks to the net and play hard defensively. That's what we need to start."

Suddenly following six straight losses, Detroit is no longer a playoff team. The Red Wings season is looking somewhat less buoyant than the Titanic after it hit the iceberg.
Lalonde needs to get Commissioner Gordon, Chief OHara and whatever duly deputized officers of the law are necessary to round up Campbell and get him in front of his team, stat.
Theres plenty of blame being assigned for this sudden turn of events. Its Lalondes fault for not motivating his players. Dylan Larkins injury absence is another culprit, as is the Priority patch on the Red Wings jersey. Detroit is 0-6 since it was affixed.
Even GM Steve Yzerman, once bulletproof in the eyes of the faithful, is facing criticism for not moving to bolster the squad at the trade deadline.

If Yzerman did anything wrong at the trade deadline, it was refusing to sell. I understand it but it sucks giving what is looking more like another missed playoffs.
Cap be damned. Maybe the best message Yzerman could send would be to cut Holl or Petry and elevate Edvinsson. It cannot get much worse.
What justification to the owners, fans, and most importantly, to the players, could there be for selling off assets at the trade deadline when they were in the first wild card position? Sorry guys, unless youre first in the Division Im giving up.
This is going to make contract discussions interesting for Seider and Raymond. Without Larkin, this was/is there chance to drive the bus. Neither has shown they can do this like Dylan does. This stretch could be GMSY first justification for a salary lower than either Seider or Raymond would want.
