Hola Kate and all, and thanks for the LB! The 10 point lead on the NYI has disappeared in just over one week. The surprising part is not that the Wings lost to a SC Final favorite in Florida, or losing to the NHLs best home team, but that the NYI have won five consecutive. With 20 games left its a dead heat again.
Intellectually I am glad that the Wings did not make a move today. The Wings are playing with house money this year.
Emotionally it was a huge let down. I am ready for the Wings to be back in the spot light.
Yotes traded Jason Zucker and Matt Dumba today, two regulars out of the lineup tonight.
No reason for the Wings dropping a game tonight to them.

Kate I know you said you enjoyed the Mandalorian, albeit that was 2-3 years ago? If you have Apple TV have you watched Masters of the Air? Its done largely by the same group and same manner as Band of Brothers, following a Bomber Group based in England. I am horribly disappointed in myself for not learning more about this aspect of the War before. These were crazy brave people flying into flak and head on German fighters.
At the same time Im reading a book Mission about actor Jim Stewarts childhood, pre-war Hollywood career and subsequent military career, which takes place at the same time as Masters of the Air.
Just stunning brutal way to try to win a war. Brute force and attrition.

I dont have to worry aboot the intellectual part ever, but Im glad they didnt make any kind of sideways move. Its a good vote of confidence to Berggren and that tall Swedish defenseman kid that the franchise says that theyre as good as any NHLer they could have picked up. Maybe well see them plugged in this year and provide a spark. Happens frequently down the stretch every year.

Right Kate, Im enjoying the Jimmy Stewart book a lot more than I thought. The author did tons of research and personal interviews and writes a lot of great first person stories and conversations. I knew he was in uniform in the War but no idea he was leading combat bombing missions over Germany. The attrition rate was horrible.

They are not coming back from a 3 goal deficit. They have guts when Larkin is around but otherwise nobody steps up. Raymond or Seider should get a fire under them and start taking charge.
Perrons pep talk is gone. Kane as the alternative A should have a locker room talk. It is like they lost themselves as hockey players. And the deadline is not an excuse.
Perhaps Lalonde needs to express some fire or discipline to some players. It is not just letting the players figure it out. Sometimes lighting a fire is necessary.
Hopefully, the next game someone gets things going and stirs things up. But this may be it for them. Could turn out to be a terrible March for them who knows.
Steve, really needs to start turning over the roster. Leaving the likes of Fabbri and such is not the best. Hopefully, draft picks earn some spots on the forward side and defense.

I like Yzerman, but he is the one keeping the kids in GR. He is depending on Chariot, Holl, and Petry along with Olli. It will not work.
And some of our forwards are not that great on the forecheck. Lately Ras and Veleno too soft. Then Fischer and Sprong not so great either.

Young guys have a chance to establish themselves as invaluable in the absence of Larkin. Raymond, fabbri, even debrincat, can they be standalone leaders, or only when they are riding the coattails of Dylan Larkin.
