from Kevin Allen of Detroit Hockey Now,

Detroit Red Wings forward Oskar Sundqvist didnt practice Wednesday and his status is unclear for their Thursday road game against the Boston Bruins.

Oskar will be day to day, so I dont know if well have him, Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde said.

After Wednesdays practice, Lalonde wasnt even sure Sundqvist would go to Boston.

Lalonde said Sundqvists injury was upper body, but offered no details. Sundqvist was on the ice for three goals-against in Detroits 6-2 loss to New Jersey.

Obviously, he wasnt himself last night, Lalonde said. I love the competitiveness in him trying to fight through it but if I had that over again we may have not played him because he obviously wasnt himself last night, couldnt get any battles. Just wasnt himself.

Sundqvist had been playing with on a line with Michael Rasmussen and Elmer Soderblom. In Wednesdays practice, Adam Erne was in Sundqvists spot.

Lalonde was looking at some different line combinations in Wednesdays practice, including moving Joe Veleno to the second line to play with Lucas Raymond and Andrew Copp. Raymond is still looking for his first goal this season.

Paul

from Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News,

Nobody is pulling any alarms yet, and it's hardly a crisis after only six games.

But forward Lucas Raymond was a leading contender for the Calder Trophy (rookie of the year) last season and there was every reason to suspect Raymond would follow with an even better season this time around.

It very well could still happen. But Raymond will have a little catching up to do, after having put up two points (both assists) through the first six games.

The inability to get in the goal-scoring column, along with the possibly beginning to press because of that, has gotten Raymond out of whack.

"He's so competitive, and now he's channeling it incorrectly and he's pressing," coach Derek Lalonde said. "It's typical with most players, let alone young players. It's not going in for him offensively, and he believes he can help the team with offense, and now it's looping and cheating (offensively) and not taking care of the wall and now he's stuck in his defensive zone instead of doing things he can do in the offensive zone.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
