Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
If he hadn't written this, "The work doesnt stop. #LGRW" i'd say he was moving on, now, who the heck knows?
Exactly Paul! Same thinking here
It's like watching three card Monty, lol.
Ookaayyyyy....
Hes gone
He's back or he isn't, I don't lean either way. If he is gone, yes, Wings will need to find another Patrick Kane, which would be the most difficult thing to do. If he's back, well, I would sign him AFTER re-signing Seider and Raymond. Gotta take care of those two guys the most.
All he did was thank Detroit and the fans. There's nothing else to read into it.
I get the impression that he'd love to come back if he gets the right contract. That's a pretty big if though.
Thanks for a fun season and great job on the comeback, PK. Good luck in Utah, or whatever team throws bags at you.
For a second there I thought you were talking about me.
Ha. I do hope you get bags of cash, only you get it HERE, Paul.
😂
Given what hes said already, I think its more about term than money (Dont get me wrong, He will still want to get paid) but it seems like he doesnt want the last 5 or 6 years of his career to be like Jagr or Iginla, where they played for a different team every other year.
Can't IMAGINE why he wouldn't see what offers come his way on 7/1. Detroit has to be in the mix (pending resigning UFAs and other protected assets), but the whole story is still being written.
He was cagey to word his message the way he has. No doors being closed on his part.
Everything in this tweet shows - he is playing the game and playing it well. I am not surprised; it makes complete sense. This was a respectful thing to say, though, and does not close any doors at all like you said.
Exactly The Meal. Kane playing both sides of the coin.🪙
via Kevin Allen of Detroit Hockey Now,
The Red Wings still hope to havea shot at re-signing Kane who certainly enjoyed playing in Detroit. But he will have many options, and insiders tell Detroit Hockey Now he will command $5 million plus on the open market.
Worth it.
