Paul

from Bob Duff of Detroit Hockey Now,

When forward Theodor Niederbach was jettisoned earlier this season by Rogle of the SHL, it appeared at the time that his hopes of someday playing for the Detroit Red Wings was also being sunk.

Demoted to MoDo of the Allvenskan, going down to Swedens second tier has proven to be a first-rate experience for Niederbach, the right-winger selected 51st overall in the 2020 NHL entry draft.

Through 14 playoff games, Niederbach is sitting with 3-7-10 totals. Its a much better number than the 7-11-18 digits he was able to muster up during 31 regular-season games.

MoDo leads Djurgarden 3-1 in the best-of-seven series to determine which club will earn promotion to the SHL for next season. Game 5 is set for Wednesday.

Getting back to the SHL will be huge for Niederbach. Hell get one last chance to prove to the Red Wings that hes worthy of an NHL contract. Detroit will have until June 1, 2024 to decide whether to sign Niederbach or set him free.

Niederbach signed a two-year extension with MoDo in February, meaning he wouldnt be coming to North America prior to the 2025-26 NHL season.

continue for more on the Wings...

Gee thanks Bettman you ass.  These games if even available on tv will be plus 6 hours. That means a midnight start. Who knows which of those players will still be on those teams in Nov. Lindstrom is already looking at Europe for his next contract.

8pm in Sweden is 2pm in Detroit. So these will be matinee/afternoon games for the Wings, not midnight. The travel/jetleg is not ideal, but all the four teams will have the deal with it. The back-to-back is interesting. I guess there are positives (come back a day early) as well as negatives there.

I think these games are great for the NHL. Growing the sport in European hockey markets is important. I'm stocked.

Doing it mid-season is different for sure.  Jet lag/time change going and coming back, hopefully will be given extra days to recover.

Thats right, normally its Swedes that have to be up in the middle of the night if they want to see a NHL game.

I was able to go to Stockholm in 2009 and the Swedes were very enthusiastic and supportive of the games, especially the Red Wings who lost two games to StL.

This Avicii Arena is the old Globen.

Looks liked I added the time in the wrong direction DOH!  I added Sweden to my iphone clock too.
