Tomorrow at 8:30 am I have a Colonoscopy procedure scheduled
Today I start preparing for it around 12:30pm and will probably be indisposed for a few hours afterwards.
I admit I am pretty nervous at this point and hope everything goes well.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
Hi Paul, I have had them over the years. Not fun the day before.😳
That's the absolute truth, BF. The procedure itself is nothing (mostly because you're sedated). But that "water-torture" prep is a drag. Just accept the fact that it's necessary and it'll be over in 24 hours, and you'll get through that part just fine.
The sad news is if the Wings play tonight like they've been playing, it'll feel like a colonoscopy without sedation.
Wishing for the best possible outcome for you.
Right on all counts, OTC!
Paul, you will be experiencing what comedian Ross Benett calls "The Night of a Thousand Waterfalls". It's uncomfortable but not painful. As OTC said, the procedure itself is painless. You will probably pass gas for a while in the recovery room and then be sent on your way. No need to be nervous, you will do fine.
The stuff I was drinking reacted slowly, but now I am just living in the head.
The firehose experience.
And posting from there? Eww... lol.
Had one 3 weeks before prostatectomy surgery. Was a lightening experience lol.
Seriously, it is a needed exam especially if colon cancer runs in your family.
All the best.
The prep is easily the worse part. It's gotten a bit better with more options for keeping you hydrated. Yes, you'll be spending some time in close proximity to the toilet but it isn't a painful process, only an annoying one.
Best of luck.
Good luck Paul.
Hey Paul, best of luck, Im sure this isnt your first, probably.
I just had another in August and am clear for 5 years, luckily. The pharmacy again gave me the empty gallon jug with a packet of flavor crystals. Try drinking 8 oz every 15 minutes and you quickly get behind schedule. I almost got to the point of throwing up and had to leave a cup or so in the jug. I asked the doctor if there was a different alternative and he said he hadnt prescribed that method, and to remind him in five years to specify whatever less voluminous liquidy method there is.
Whatever, its one of the best things a person can do for themselves so glad youre getting it done! Hoping for good results.
And seeing as you started this early, you could be cleared out completely by game time.
Hope everything comes out alright.😄😄 Just a little probe humor. Its nothing. Just the awful prep.
I believe I am 'clearly' nearing the end but getting hungry. Food is not on the list so it looks like coffee and gatorade (not blue or red) are on the menu tonight.
I added a lemon packet that came with it but did nearly lose it all after the first sip. I found shaking it longer helped but the gag reflex has come back a couple times.
Good luck, when you eat on the other side it tastes soooo good
Should be good... being nervous is understandable. Standing with you.
Best of luck!
