The Wings played a good first period and took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Hellberg was very good.
The game changed quickly in the second period with the Senators scoring 4 while the Wings added one goal. Numerous questionable calls against Detroit did not help. 4-2 after 40 minutes.
The Sens scored twice in the final period to win 6-2.
Ottawa came into the game with one goal, to hit Detroit's defensemen whenever possible. And it worked.
Detroit goals and a few videos from the game are below.
The cheap penalty calls did the Red Wings in tonight.
Certainly didn’t help, but most nights scoring 2 in the NHL means you’re losing the game.
That's the truth.

when the captain ran the show in TB, he had a knack for acquiring big body veteran D, (mcdonagh, streit, cernak, Coburn) at, or close to the deadline, we’ll see..
Was hoping Ben Chiarot could fill that role but that hasn't quite been the case.
We were physically manhandled by a dirty team. The key moment was also in the second period when at 2:3 we had a PP and probably 5 scoring chances and right after Tkachuk scores a bad goal on Helberg.
