A2Y- Videos- After A 6-2 Loss In Ottawa

Mickey Redmond first with some advice, below find Dylan Larkin and Derek Lalonde.

A game like tonight illustrates why holding onto assets like Bertuzzi, if in fact we lose him in free agency this summer, will turn out to be a bad short cited move, even if we qualify for the post. This team is not built for physical playoff play that was brought tonight, and would get both checked and skilled out of the barn against the B's.

The team is playing good, coaching is good, team has improved, but the mix is still not there, missing Rasmussen hurt us tonight, but even when we roll a solid 4 none of them are imposing, without fast top end elite skill, we're going to need some physical guys in the mix, not fighters, but guys that can play minutes and run some guys into the wall.

Unlike years past, the packages have been pretty good, we are missing an opportunity, even if that ends up being Stevie at the draft board, vs. a more ready prospect, I like Stevie at the draft board.

Ive been advocating to sell Bertuzzi since last deadline (for reasons like age relative to expected competitiveness, injury history, wear from style of play)but if the contract talks are as far apart as is leaking: then it is time to sell.

If you can get a late 1st plus a middle-six prospect, all the better.

The past two games have shown me that making the playoffs for the sake of being cannon fodder is a colossal waste of future capital.

If the Wing play as flat as they did tonight, then lil Bert shouldnt be the only one heading to metro airport.

I wonder if yzerman may have missed his window on trading Bertuzzi. The hauls teams got from the AVs and Leafs was ridiculous for middle of the line players.

What other teams have the capital to trade away such a haul and the need for a player like Bert? This will be interesting.

I am all for trading Bert for something as opposed to losing him for nothing, but I am not excited really about the prospects of it. The best we can get is a first rounder. That first rounder will be in 25-30 range. Of course, we can score a "Point" there, but on average we will end up with "Veleno" type, a middle six forward who will be playing in Detroit in 4-5 years.

If he's traded, Bert's camp and Yzerman obviously couldn't come to a contract agreement.  So we're talking about maybe 20 games left in his DRW career.

Assuming Yzerman lands at least a 1st rounder, he'll have 4 top 60 picks in a deep draft, I like those odds a lot.
