from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press,

"There’s a lot of pride in our locker room and that was a huge test, huge opportunity for us, that’s how we looked at it," captain Dylan Larkin said after Sunday's 5-3 victory. "We got back-to-back games with the same team and a team that is on a record pace. We had a great two games. We didn’t have a great second period (Saturday), but both games, we battled hard.

"Just incredible team effort both nights. It was a huge character weekend for us."...

"Two really big players for our organization and even better friends that we lost, but now we have to move on," Seider said. "I think it’s even more fun winning without those guys, to show how much character is in that locker room, to really push here towards the end of the season."...

"The one message I had with the group — we are up 4-1 after the second period and we were feeling good about the start of our third," Lalonde said. "I really thought we were leaning towards scoring our fifth goal. Instead we give up two really easy goals to make it 4-3. That was really disappointing and a little immature of our group, which is fine — we are still trying to grow. But if we are ever going to get somewhere as an organization, we will have to manage that much better. The good teams, the great teams, they manage those much better."

via Kevin Allen of Detroit Hockey Now,

It will be the Detroit Red Wings’ surging power play vs. a hot Nashville Predators team Tuesday in Nashville.

The Red Wings have scored at least one power play in each of their last three games and four of their last five games. Since the All-Star break, Detroit’s power play has converted on 24.3% of its chances. The Red Wings had two power play goals, plus a shorthanded goal, in beating the Bruins 5-3 Sunday afternoon

What’s up with the PP? Moritz Seider seems to be making another leap in his development. Alex Chiasson’s net-front presence has helped.

Meanwhile, the Predators are making a strong push to get into the playoffs. The Predators are 7-2-1 in their past 10 games and are five points out of a wild-card position in the Western Conference.

So far Chiasson has been a decent net front presence replacement for Sunny. Really liked what Sunny brought to the team with his grit, but impressed with the limited sample size so far with Chiasson.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
