Quick Recap- Detroit/Nashville

added 10:59pm, Post game media is below... First are the game highlights followed by a bad line change which lead to Nashville's first goal, Dylan Larkin and Jeff Blashill.

It's too early to say the Wings have turned the corner but many of you may be thinking just that even with an OT loss tonight.

Once again, the Wings need to play like this every night and everything else will fall into place.

Keep playing hard and working as a team and success will follow.

Nashville wins 3-2 in a shootout.

Detroit goals are below.

That Saros is some goalie. How come we don’t draft goalies like these ? in SO we didnt have any chance in the goalie battle.
Take a look at Hronek on the egualizer late in the game, totally out of position, doing some figure skating around the circle…and DK was looking for a sexy girl in the stand..
Bad positionning cost us a point.
We overall played hard but not everyone, Larks was missing in action till the last minutes of the game. Then our beloved coach had to stop mixing up lines like he did all night long.
By way little note on Nametsnikov. Not too many criticisms on him this season as he is kind of going off radars. Well overall i can say that he could be the number one disappointment of the season. Hes got 6 goals, some into an empty netter..still don’t remember a good shot away from this guy.
Even though Greiss wasn’t bad he again lost a battle to a better goalie..
Someday we will have a goalie that can steal game…When was our last goalie who could steal games ?? Roger Crozier ??

Seriously? Ever hear of Dominik Hasek? Crozier won MVP of Cup Finals in ‘65 (?) so… good for him?

Osgood—- he doesn’t get the credit he deserves because of the Wings sustained success but he saved Hasek’s bacon in the playoffs and was a large part of the Cup win in 2008. In the ‘08 playoffs here is his stat line: 14-4 record with 1.55 GAA and a .930 save %. In ‘09 it was 15-8 with a 2.01 GAA and a .926 save %.

Mike Vernon in ‘97 was 16-4 with a 1.76 GAA and a .927 save %. Remember he was lost because of the expansion draft protection rules meant one goalie would be lost for no compensation if either wasn’t traded. Detroit got a 3rd round pick in the Jiri Fischer/Pavel Datsyuk draft (which was traded and became #55-Ryan Barnes and a 1998 4th round pick #111-Brent Hobday plus a 2nd in ‘99 draft (which was packaged with Kevin Hodson for Wendel Clark).

and Hasek which was mentioned above.

Yes, we’re all aware that Wings had quality ‘keepers during the glory years !... Believe Pierre was referring to last decade…

Agree with comments on Larks (“floats” way too much for my liking)...

....and DDK is a total pile (and has been for years) ! He’ll hopefully be broomed after this year…

It’s all about the future…and Seider and Raymond being No.1 and No. 3 on TSN’s Top Prospects listing was so great to see last week !!

Nametsnikov. Not too many criticisms on him

I am not sure he merits any. The guy is playing well imo. He’s never been a goal scorer, but a very useful smart player who can contribute 40 points in a good team’s 3rd line.

in SO we didnt have any chance in the goalie battle.

Even I would make a save on Larkin

I haven’t been too impressed with his play, especially lately. Yes, he brings more to the table than just his offense but I was expecting him to produce a little more. I’m beginning to lean towards exposing him to the expansion draft but still a week early for that discussion.
