from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press,
Tyler Bertuzzi is on a three-goal roll as the Wings head into Saturday’s season finale. He and Dylan Larkin were the highlights of Thursday’s 4-3 loss to Montreal, a result that disappointed within the locker room but was best for the organization’s draft lottery odds and overall draft positioning.
Bertuzzi has three goals the last two games. Since joining Henrik Zetterberg’s line with Gustav Nyquist after Tomas Tatar was traded Feb. 26, Bertuzzi ranks as the team’s second-leading scorer in that span, with 13 point sin 19 games.
Asked what he first thought when a 23-year-old rookie would be joining his line, Zetterberg didn’t hesitate.
“He’s a Bertuzzi and I like Bertuzzis, so I knew kind of quick that he will be a good fit with me and Gus,” Zetterberg said. “We kind of need a player that is a little gritty and wins the puck battles for us and goes to the net or to an open spot.”
