As far as a potential plug-and-play, would it not be the third line that appears to warrant adjustment?

The 4th line had a decent game last night but no finish.

Soon we may be asking, who scores first, Abby, Helm or de la Rose?

Moreso than the second line, which already has a “plug-and-play” fourth liner on it?

No argument here that the construct of the 2nd line is not ideal.  As a fan and not a tactician, the third line appears to be the least effective of the four thus far and in need of a boost. Happy that #37 is still up; hopefully his play merits a long look.

The third line definitely needs a boost too, but there’s less expected from a third line than from a second, and if the Wings hope to have any secondary scoring then they need to fix that second line.

I know that AA-Hirose-Svech would be a young line, but I think it makes more sense to play Svechnikov there than on the third line. If he uses his size, combined with his skill and hands, he’d be exactly the type of player than the second line needs. And honestly, if Svechnikov is going to thrive he probably needs to be on a line with some skill.

I’ll say it again:  get Glendening off that 2nd line, have him center the 4th.  Put Svechnikov on the 2nd lien in his place.  Take de la Rose out for now.

Although I’m more dissatisfied with the third line than the second, your points are well taken.

Which one of you are secretly Claude Julien?  On away ice with the home coach having last change, a line with zero defensive acumen and 2 rookies to boot, Julien’s 1st or 2nd unit would be eating our lunch.

Unless of course this is all in the lose more and often mindset, in that regard, ok.

This is an impressive straw man, even for you.

I’m not really worried about the third line at all.

If Blashill can’t fashion two bottom-six lines with his mostly-bottom-six roster of forwards, that says more about him than it says about the roster.

The season must be off to a good start if all the talk and kvetching is about tertiary scoring.

Do you even know what a straw man is, or do you just say it when you can’t argue against a valid point you don’t like.

CDMC says…  AA-Hirose-Svech !
MC says AHS would have 3 guys that are offensive minded guys, that don’t play great defense and 2 are rookies going into a game that we don’t control last change.
Where’s the strawman?

Or were you just repeating their names in a 3 line combination just cause?

That fact that people interject reality into your XBox game thinking doesn’t make an argument a strawman.

Pondering at this point an Erne Glendening swap if second line doesn’t seem to be developing any chemistry although they weren’t bad last night. None of the lines looked stellar last night.

Totally agree. I was thinking the same thing. Erne will be able to create more space for Happy and taco. Glenny is probably better on the puck retrieval but I think Erne may have better passing set up skills to go along with creating space.

Wings should call up Zadina for every Montreal game this season and see if it motivates him to start putting some pucks in the net.  Kid seems extremely snake bit right now…. can’t buy a goal.  Maybe it would motivate him to finally get one.  I think once he pots one, they will start going in more regularly. Kid has a ton of skill, just needs to get it going.

If they weren’t going to play Svech, why bring him up instead of someone like Terry whose development isn’t hurt by sitting in the stands? Svech needs to be playing.

I didn’t look but perhaps the Griffins are off for a few days and the idea is to have Svech practicing with the big boys.

That looks like it, played on 10/5 and don’t play again until 10/11. Might as well get him some practice time with the varsity squad while earning an NHL check. Unless Detroit thinks they’ll need him Saturday night in Toronto they’ll probably send him back for the back to back GR games Friday/Saturday.

WTF are you talking about?  Svech is playing.  Svech didn’t miss any games and isn’t going to miss any games.  He got called up for a few days between games.  Svech has been playing and will continue to play. You guys seem confused over what happened here.  The Griffons were inactive for a few days so they called up a few guys so that they would get a few days of NHL pay between their AHL games.  Svech is going back to GR to play, he isn’t sitting out any games.

I think the wings called up a few guys to maximize both the cap space and roster spots to put Z and Franzen on LTIR, but I could be wrong about that.
