It’s Detroit Or Halifax For Filip Zadina

from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press,

The Detroit Red Wings and Filip Zadina were both under the impression he could play in the AHL in 2018-19, but have been told his junior team wants him back if he does not make the Wings.

During last week’s development camp, Zadina, the sixth overall pick in the 2018 draft, said he had been loaned by his Czech team to his junior team. That was also what the Wings believed. It’s a significant distinction because if Zadina were on loan, he could be sent to the AHL if he does not make the Wings. That would make it easy to call him back up.

Tuesday evening, Wings general manager Ken Holland told the Free Press he had been informed Halifax Mooseheads general manager Cam Russell wants Zadina back if he’s not in the NHL.

Wow.  Not the type of gaff youd expect a pro GM to make.  Especially after going out and signing vets to block the road.

I hope he enjoys another year of overrippening in the Q where he can log big minutes and be in important situations.

Should be a win for Kenny.  If it’s not, his own fault for not knowing what eligability to play where his own player has.

Also this just goes to show it’s about hoarding players as long as possible.  They dont want to burn a year on ELC so they’re going to send him to the A.

Kenny tells us hes got a chance.  Hes got to beat a veteran
We think Rasmussen is ready to, has to beat him…

By the end of her as article shes saying this BLUNDER doesn’t matter because he was probably gonna be on the roster anyways.

I cant Express enough how much I envy other teams with owners and managers who actually like having fans of their teams.  That dont make up stuff month to month or day day even.

They could be making so much more money without KH.

I must have missed where Cam Russel was judge, jury, and executioner here.  Just because Russel says that, how exactly does it mean anything?

And why does, or should, an NHL org give a %$(* what Russel wants?

I’d like more information here on Zadina’s actual situation.  I’m apparently not going to get that from HSJ, who is just blindly following along here.
