EDMONTON, AB – The Edmonton Oilers and free-agent forward Corey Perry have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $775,000 plus performance bonuses.
The 38-year-old right-winger has played 1,273 career NHL regular season games, scoring 421 goals and 471 assists for 892 points. Perry has also played 196 career playoff games, recording 53 goals and 71 assists for 124 points.
During the 2010-11 season with the Anaheim Ducks, the Peterborough, Ont. native scored 50 goals and 98 points to win the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy as the NHL's leading goal-scorer, plus the Hart Memorial Trophy as league MVP.
Perry won the 2007 Stanley Cup with the Ducks and also played in three consecutive Stanley Cup Final series with the Dallas Stars (2020), Montreal Canadiens (2021) and Tampa Bay Lightning (2022).
He also captured Olympic gold medals with Team Canada in 2010 (Vancouver) and 2014 (Sochi).
Perry will wear jersey number 90 with Edmonton.

This Oiler fans sees Perry >>>>> Erne so very good emotions.
Ouch. Poor Adam Erne. But the comment is correct.
I have a few reactions to this.
1) Okay, now that Perry is back in the league after this very brief hiatus, I REALLY feel the Hawks owe a bit more of an explanation as to what happened there.
2) Edmonton has everything going right right now; it's a curious time to mix up that chemistry.
3) Perry has cursed many teams in the SCF so it's safe to say Edmonton will indeed play in the Stanley Cup this year, but will, of course, lose.
Perry just created a new method to get moved from a bottom dweller to contending team with other assets being involved. It should work as long as the player has some desirable skills. The contending team doesn't have to give up assets.
1. Get drunk
2. Do something inappropriate.
3. Get your contract terminated.
4. Say "I'm having problems and seeking help".
5. Sign with a contender
Come to think of it, maybe Evander Kane did it first.
I wonder if Toronto could "convince" Fluery to do the same.
Delete this suggestion right now! :o

Erne placed on waivers. Anyone? Bueller???
I like the guy but detroit has more than enough 3rd/4th liners
I agree. Seems like a decent guy but not someone we need. Maybe Chicago? They have had a lot of injuries besides losing Perry
This suddenly feels like Perry's offense = a NothingBurger....
Well they didn't sign him for his defense
*rimshot*
One last comment on this thread . I add it because we as fans (And I Very much include myself) can be so fickle depending on whether a guy is playing for or against us. Ah, remember Chelios? For me, the one guy that comes to mind that I could never accept is Jamie Benn. What he did to Larkin was so unnecessary and brutal that even if he got a suspension, it would not erase my disgust, ill feelings. I'm sure there are others. Anyways

Cheli was a beast to play against but I recall him as a respectable guy even when he wasn't on my team. He played hard but he answered the bell if anyone took exception to something he did.
These guys like Benn and Marchand and Perry make sneaky dirty hits and run away.
I agree on Benn. He deserves a stick sandwich Tuesday night.
Yes. Or he needs to staffed like a pig at a pit roast.
