18 minutes of your time.

from Ansar Khan of Mlive,

Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin participated in his first full practice Wednesday since suffering a lower-body injury on March 2, and there is a chance he returns for Thursdays game against the New York Islanders at Little Caesars Arena (7 p.m., Bally Sports Detroit).

Potentially, coach Derek Lalonde said. Well see how he feels. Hes progressively getting better. Ill get a better feel when I talk to the training staff....

Skated today, so that was certainly a positive, Lalonde said. We had some real reps for him, too, which was his first time (since the injury)....

We really got to focus on tomorrow, Moritz Seider said. I think we had a real good day of practice today, and I think everybody should be excited. Its a good challenge. Time for payback and hopefully we can now win three out of the last four and then its looking obviously a lot better.

from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press,

"It is probably the biggest game of our season," he said in anticipation of Thursday's rematch between the Detroit Red Wings and New York Islanders at Little Caesars Arena. The Wings (35-28-6) are three points up on the Islanders (29-24-15) in the race for the second wild-card berth in the Eastern Conference.

The Wings could be aided by the return of their captain, as Dylan Larkin is awaiting clearance to return to the lineup.

"Everybody should be excited," Seider said. "Time for payback. Hopefully we can now win three out of the last four and then it's looking a lot better."...

While the Wings endured a pointless streak that spanned Feb. 29-March 16, the Islanders ran up six consecutive victories. Now it's the Wings who have won two of their last three games, and the Islanders who are on an 0-4-1 roll.

"Theyve lost five straight," coach Derek Lalonde said. "Weve been there, a week ago, in a similar situation. Now youre looking at separating that difference. Of course, theyre going to play for their season. Theyre a really good team. We wanted big games late in the year. Here we are. Well see how we handle it."

from Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News,

Coach Derek Lalonde was shocked by the Tuesday's opening 20 minutes and he said he will try anything he can to not have a duplication of the slow start.

"We'll be a little different," said Lalonde, noting the video sessions and meetings before games haven't been working. "It's an interesting time of the year. It's so emotional right now. The highs and lows, and you talk about the narrative (Tuesday), we go from one narrative where we lose to have now won two of three and above the (playoff) line.

"It's amazing how the emotional rollercoaster is even within the game."

Lalonde is toying with the idea of shortening his bench in the first period, leaning on players who feel are going well, if another lackluster start happens.

But Lalonde feels there is an easy way to avoid a poor start.

"Just manage our game," Lalonde said. "(Play) simple. I just think a simple north (game), work off the forecheck, get pucks to the net and just a simple recipe to get us going."

Caps lose to the Leafs to remain a point behind the Wings for the 2nd wild card spot.  They do have a game in hand.

Hopefully they'll be without Wilson for a bit after that high stick.
