The Wings came out and played a strong 15 minutes in the first period then Washington was the better team the last five.

The Capitals came out for the second period and played well, The Wings killed off two penalties and Washington scored the lone goal.

Washington controlled the play in the third, scored two goals and a 3-1 win.
