With just under five minutes left in the third, Nashville scored the only goal of the game.

Apologize to Larkin. They can play well defensively, but did not while Larkin was out. Deplorable.
Its the 80s rocker hair flip at the end that just adds to the greatness of that first fight.

The biggest difference with Larkin in the lineup is the stability at center. With Larkin the centers are Larkin 1c, Compher 2c, Copp 3c, and Veleno 4c. Without Larkin in the lineup Compher is 1c, Copp 2c, Veleno 3c, and Czarnik 4c. You can see the problem that creates. Every guy is slotted higher than ideal for any game. I think this lack of center depth translates into defensive struggles and lapses.
Would Lindholm be a better 2C next year? Maybe 5 years at $6M would do it?
I was also thinking Kadri in a trade but depends on salary retained.
We definitely need a better 2C than Compher next year to take the next step.
I dont mind Compher as a 2c. Hes passable for a short time in the 1c position. The problem to me is that Copp is not a 2c and Veleno is not a 3c and neither are passable in those roles in the short or long term. Any injury that forces them into those roles for an extended period of time isnt going to bring good results. So youve either got to improve the bottom of the center position (3c or 4c) or improve the top of the center position (2c). Improving the bottom will take up less cap space.

That was a really good road game considering how they've been playing lately. Lyons best game in 5 or 6 starts. Great tilt by Mo. Too bad they couldn't get one on the PP.

I agree, they played hard but the power play let them down
Lyon really played well. The goal the Wings gave up, the whole line was chasing the puck and got caught out of position. Lyon had barely any chance on that shot.
Next Game
Game was very entertaining to watch. If only we played that way more often. 77 is here to stay.
