from Bob Duff of Detroit Hockey Now,
What Does His Detroit Future Hold?
The Red Wings will be expecting a similar contribution from Perron in 2023-24. He’ll be counted on for another 20-goal season and figures to be part of the first power-play unit, utilizing his impressive one-timer to capitalize during man-advantage situations. Perron was second on the club in goals (24) points (56), and power-play points (22). He led the Red Wings with 16 power-play assists.
From Perron’s point of view, he wants his Detroit future to include a playoff appearance following next season.
from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press,
A good day for team USA left Detroit Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider's Germans in the cellar.
Seider earned an assist Monday but the U.S. rallied from a one-goal deficit to bank a 3-2 victory at Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland. The U.S., which has Derek Lalonde on the coaching staff and Wings prospect Carter Mazur in the lineup, improved to 3-0 in the standings, and with a 14-4 goal differential that could come in handy when the preliminary round ends as far as positioning for the quarterfinals.
Mazur, 21, had an assist in his first game. He's gaining valuable experience at an elite level of hockey that will stand him well at Wings' camp in the fall. The Wings drafted the winger in the third round, at No. 70, in 2021.

Perron will be 35 yrs old in a few days (May 28th). The style of his play all these years will have a cumulative effect at the end like it does with everyone inevitably. While effective last year--the NHL has 35+ contract rules for a reason.
The Wings took a step backwards last trade deadline and let go of talent that could help them make the playoffs. It was the right call--but leaves them farther away from a playoff appearance. It's not a linear process.
The best thing to do is to trade Perron as a rental next deadline. Or as part of a package this summer to get a top winger from a playoff team that can't get over that hump and needs a proven playoff performer. Getting to the playoffs should never be the goal--didn't we all learn anything during the last few years of Ken Holland?
"Getting to the playoffs should never be the goal--didn't we all learn anything during the last few years of Ken Holland?" Totally agree, I am still a little bitter over how many FAs were signed especially Chiarot. It most likely hurt our draft position and to your point may have set the progress back some
