Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
Auston Matthews missed last night's game against Nashville and will be a game time decision tonight. Reading between the lines from some of the posts from Toronto media, he won't play.
from Ansar Khan of Mlive,
Toronto has won nine in a row against the Red Wings, outscoring them 48-21.
Toronto is 18-1-2 vs. the Red Wings since the start of the 2016-17 season.
The Red Wings havent beaten the Leafs since Feb. 1, 2019 (3-2 in overtime).
The Red Wings havent beaten the Leafs in regulation since Dec. 15, 2017 (3-1)....
Some nights where it feels like you werent playing well you watch the tape back over and you werent that bad, coach Derek Lalonde said. That was not the case in this one, watching the tape back over. With that said, we scored some hard-area goals. Well never apologize for two points in this league, how hard it is, especially against a really good team that was on a five-game winning streak.

My one and only RT for ASG voting. I'd personally like to see them take some time off.
Fabbri has been terrific so far- hope he keeps it going!
I agree. I'd forgotten how hard he plays.
Agreed, but don't forget that Fabri can be a double edge sword when he plays top 6, or more importantly vs. top 6, he can be too over-aggressive get burned giving away offense to guys we should be defending hard against, and its usually getting himself way out of position to jump a play, dive to make one, miss landing checks, or just trying to hard to force offense with difficult or no look passes that are turned over.
On a team like the Wings, current state, I'll take the passion and effort all day long, at some point when we start competing for real, he'll need to be more controlled or buried down the depth chart and used situationally like he was in St. Louis.
