A Cartoonish Display Of Ineptitude

03/27/2021 at 2:30pm EDT

We all knew early in the last game what we were in for. The Larkin, Stecher collision in the top of the first period was just the beginning of how fast the game would go downhill, and it did. The play of the Wings isn't real hockey anymore. It's morphed into a cartoonish display of ineptitude, and, silliness. These guys are supposed to be professionals. Right?

Players running around like headless chickens with no idea of who to pass to, or, how to score a frigging goal. Then, there's the problem in the net with a back-up goaltender that has not panned out, and I'm being generous here.

In other words, there is no game plan. Ever! What this looks like is an ongoing coaching problem. Sure, there's not a lot of talent to work with, but I've watched less talented teams play with more effort, and cohesion than the current Wings. I could go on, and on, but why bother? One thing is certain, the next twenty-one games are going to be a real drag.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
