A lot of off topic questions. But coach Lalonde just wants to win. I can dig it.

Well if that process leads to coming within 2 wins of a 3-peat I’m good with it. I was honestly very impressed with everything I heard from Lalonde.

from Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News,

Derek Lalonde was officially introduced Friday as the 28th head coach of the Detroit Red Wings.

Lalonde was introduced by Wings owner and governor Chris Ilitch, and general manager Steve Yzerman, culminating a two-month search for a head coach.

“It’s a huge responsibility and I’m very excited about the challenge going forward,” Lalonde said.

One of the immediate priorities, said Lalonde, is to reach out and contact players to establish relationships.

Also, the press conference has been archived and ready to watch, the presser starts at the 9:00 mark.

Lalonde is a very good coach who succeeded at every level and apparently likes the “process”. As much as I am excited with him, I kept thinking during the press conference that we were all excited about Blashill 7 years ago as well. He also succeeded in his jobs, good with young players., holds them accountable, loves the process. The biggest difference Lalonde is going to a team on an upswing and Blashill took the team on a clear decline.

By the way, do we know the terms of the contract? Did I miss that?

I’ll overlook the word “process” for now. Lalonde is definitely coming into a better situation than Blashill did so my expectations are higher.

I’m happy to be looking forward with the new Coach and his staff. Good luck to Coach Derek Lalonde, and, the Detroit Red Wings.

Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

Amazingly, the Red Wings rank last in both the power play and the penalty kill cumulatively over the past seven seasons

There’s only one way from this debacle, up.  Of all the Blashill seven-year legacies this is very disturbing, and indicative.

Yeah, that’s an amazing stat. I knew we were bad, but did not even think that bad.

confused

Let’s just hope that Lalonde’s process is one the players can understand – and one that actually works.
