Four front-row tickets to watch the Nashville Predators and the Pittsburgh Penguins at Bridgestone Arena on June 3 sold to a Nashvillian for just under $28,000, or $6,960 apiece, according to StubHub. Tickets are listed currently for as high as $3,998.
“What we’ve seen thus far with the pricing in Nashville is astronomical,” said Sean Pate of Gametime, an app that allows fans to buy last-minute tickets to sporting events. “This is the first championship level event in the history of the city. There is a lot to be said for that.”
The average ticket price for Game 3 in Nashville on June 3 is about $1,200, according to Gametime. That is almost double what fans were paying on Gametime to watch the San Jose Sharks play in their first Stanley Cup Final game last year. Given the money flowing in Silicon Valley and the Sharks’ longer existence, the price tag in Nashville is significant, Pate said.
Ralph Garcia, a spokesman for ticket resale and aggregator site TicketIQ, said part of the reason tickets in Nashville have become so pricey is because of their scarcity. The Predators have put more restrictions on ticket reselling than other markets. Predators CEO Sean Henry has said the restrictions are in place to protect fans from price gouging on the secondary market.
