Robby Fabbri Happy To Be In Detroit

from Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News,

Talk about a shock to forward Robby Fabbri’s system.

When Fabbri was acquired by the Red Wings in a trade last month, he went from the reigning Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues to a Detroit team currently last in the NHL standings.

That’s the definition of going from the penthouse to the outhouse.

But if you ask him, hear the tone of his voice when answering the question, watch him around the locker room day to day, there is no sense of disappointment.

Fabbri wants to be Red Wing and is entirely glad the trade worked out as it did.

“I want to be here, I’m happy with being here,” said Fabbri, who has 10 points (five goals) in 11 games with the Wings. “I’ve said it before, with the team we have in this room, the standings don’t do us justice. We’re getting there and getting better, we’re learning from the stuff we’re doing wrong.”

“we’re learning from the stuff we’re doing wrong.”

There’s enough for detention and night school.

At .586 ppg the Wings are on pace for 48 points for the season.

Next worse are .85 and .88 for about 70-72 points.

Washington and another one or two are earning an incredible 1.50 points per game.

Fabbri showed skill and desire with the Blues, I’m astounded they let him go.

Said all the right things in the piece - smart.

Kudos to the Captain for making the deal.

I like what I’ve seen from the kid, and I’m glad he wants to be in Detroit. Looking at our losing streaks this season though, are we *really* learning from our mistakes? Are we learning from game to game, yet forgetting in the long term? Is Blash’s message stale among the players who’ve been here for a while?

Regardless of any of that, I’m happy Stevie grabbed him, and I hope there are some other diamonds in the rough he can find out there.

I’m still in shock that we got him straight up for DLR
