The Wings looked pretty good in the first period while the Penguins looked a bit slow. 1-0 Detroit after twenty minutes.

Pittsburgh scored a power play goal early in the second period, Detroit added a goal late in the period 2-1 Detroit after forty minutes.

The Penguins scored very early in the third to tie the game 2-2 and that was the only goal of the period.

In overtime there were some chances by both teams but no scoring.

Detroit wins the shootout and thus the game 3-2..
