Quick Recap- Detroit Red Wings/Boston Bruins

A pretty solid game for the Wings although the Bruins played like they had the game won after taking an early 1-0 lead.

Detroit recovered quickly and two power play goals by Robby Fabbri was certainly a help.

Still way too many defensive zone turnovers by the Wings but they held on for a 4-2 win with Anthony Mantha sealing the game with any empty net goal.

Goals, a few highlights and Detroit stats are below.

Next game is Sunday at 5pm with the Wings hosting Vegas.

Honestly it was just great to see the Bruins actually getting called for their BS and then getting burned by it.

Keep shooting, Fabbri

I think the two biggest keys for the Wings this game beyond Bernie’s and Fabbri,‘s play was: the wings Did Not shrink when Boston’s forecheck was relentless and they were committed to their own grinding forecheck. Also they did a good job of staying in position and clogging the lanes.

Murray’s favorite player Bowey almost cost them the game a few times. I am beginning to think he is colored blind because he does not care what colored jersey he passes to.

Ugly win, but a win none the less.

And I now expect Fabbri to score 2 goals every game.

Wings beat a goalie once in the last 47 minutes, and Bernier has Pasta shoot one into his already opened glove (timing was great, but it was not an overly-skillful save).  We snuck out a win (which was fun), but I’m not fooled into thinking this team’s all that different than we’ve seen so far in the first month of the season.

I think Bert really likes passing to Fabs.

I wouldn’t call that an ugly win. Boston’s top line was shutdown by our top line, the wings had a slight edge in every category besides faceoffs and they led the majority of the game. How can this be considered an ugly win?
