In Denver, of all places. Clearly, Kenny (plus his band of all-important, equal under law, advisors) feel that one round, two rounds, even no rounds, are what await us later this month? It's all on the kids...plus a few guys whose final years will be completely wasted. That's just science.
So, what are we to do? Continue to blast away at a front office that's done exactly nothing since '09? That would be flagellatory, thorny and downright juvenile.
So, yes, that's the answer. It's the answer because there have been no straight answers. We like our team. Mike Babcock is "100 percent" satisifed with what he has. Tires have been kicked. Meetings held. Deals...ignored. And we're getting criticized by our own for daring to question how nothing's been done to mitigate glaring personnel losses.
But that's cool. DeKeyser's here. We signed some sasquatch of a defenseman and a goalie from NMU. So, everything's fine.
Too harsh?
Too bad. Nobody's giving up. Deep down, in strange places we don't talk much about, every one of us feels there's actually a chance this team can do something interesting...if they get in. Literally, I believe that and so do many of you.
Denver. What a shithole. A nice place, I'm sure. But as a hockey town? Shit. Hole. Horrible team. Terrible fans. Worse bloggers. Sobbing beat writers. But a team that must be defeated if this team, our team, is to move forward despite the unspoken acknowledgment from the organ-I-zation that nothing is expected. At all.
What a conundrum. An interesting one, though. Because now, nothing is expected. Any success would be a bonus. We're like Columbus.
So we turn. We turn from frustrated to hopeful. What if? Eh? What if?
Games like tonite need to be captured, though. Isn't that right? St. Louis, a team no better than ours with a future no brighter, made huge moves. Huge. They beckon. Columbus, with a glimmer of optimism, made moves. Minnesota made a nice move. We did nothing because the franchise clearly feels this isn't the year. So, how nice would it be if it actually was?
That's what we now face. Ok. I'm in. All in, as usual. Just get there, Wings. Get in and roll the dice. Like an 8 seed should.
It's a Live Blog, bitches.
