GDT - Game 33: Red Wings (16-11-5) at Coyotes (13-14-4) 10:00

Before this road-trip, I opined that DET may damn well be lucky to manage a point.  Obviously, I'm no pharmacist.  Detroyet's win last night actually pushed them over .500 on the road, although it was far from pretty.  Jimmy-Freaking-Howard was a beast, and needed to be after dumb-ass Ken Daniels put the bad mojo on the Wings in the Budd Lynch minute.

Don't expect goal-tending heroics tonight, Monster is in net.  There is good news however; PHX are 0-4-1 in thier last 5 tilts - managing a whopping 3 GF in that span.

Of course, I'm continuing to predict doom.  No way DET wins after playing last night at ANA, no way in hell.

These are hard times, says Eric Clapton.  LGRW, clap-clap-clap-clap-clap, BBM.

Thanks OKie.

Back on the ice again already, another 3 in 4 nights.

The NHL is really sticking it to them whore-style.

Thanks, Okie!

I actually managed to stay awake until the end of last night’s game.  Too bad the Wings couldn’t score after the first period, but GEEZ, what an effort to hold off the Ducks for the remaining 40 minutes and win the game!  Jimmah is certainly playing like a stud, but that was a great team effort.

Paul Woods kept praising Mule for his defensive play, and also commented several times that Nyquil was very good at getting the puck, controlling the puck and getting the puck to his linemates.  I haven’t read the comments from last night’s LB.  Did anyone notice these things?

I was really happy for Drew Miller.  I’ve always liked him and it would be great if he could really blossom as a goal scorer on Z’s line.

It will be tough tonight, but that’s what we said about last night, right?

LET’S GO RED WINGS !!!!!

2 more points please.
Last night had the feeling that the game was going to be tied up any second now and it looked much the same for the final 30+ minutes. Great effort hanging on by the guys as the Dicks were coming at the wave after wave with sustained pressure.

don’t look now, but the Wings have played one more game than, well, pretty much every team that matters right now.

they need the points tonight, or they’ll be in 7th place again by Thursday.

Mule was better but is still Mule-sless. NyQuill still needs polish, but, he does look damn good. Some Datsukian is either rubbing off on him, or, he has the natural ability to be a real good player for Detroit. Me likey NyQuill.

Thanks OKie.

Bitches.

Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

Yep. Any improve, however slight, is a vast improvement when it comes to the Horse’s Ass’ defense.

Franzen is always mediocre (which is still pretty damn good, on his scale) in the regular season.  we always complain about him in the regular season.  give it another month and you won’t be complaining any more.  I hope, anyway.

With Anaheim in their rear view mirror the Wings cruise on in to AiryZona for what should be another two points…...clearly, it’s a tarp.

I sense the tiniest, slightest opening emerging, like between the knees of my cousin after prom, and a similar thrill.  It seems like too much to ask for, but ever so grateful when it happens.  Similarly, it can be spooked away and disappear at the slightest distraction.

Muchas gracias, Amigo.  Hungover with some friends from Rochester, MI at a local pub watching the Wings grace the DuhUcks with some gigantic DONG.

And Ass was his usual frustrating self.  That boy needs to re-align his synapses or something.

“Whore style?”  I love this place so much.

Thanks, Kate for the feedback on Mule-sless and Nyquil.  Vlad and Paul too.  Paul, I hope you are right and Mule turns it on in the playoffs.  He was injured for the last couple.

Babcock said he’ll decide after warmups which forward to scratch to make room for Brunner. The same six D are in. Gustavsson starting.

Babcock doing his best Captain Obvious impersonation:

Detroit has scored one power-play goal in seven consecutive games, including five on the road, where it started 0-for-37.

“We got two units, that makes it way better,’’ Babcock said. “Instead of a minute power play, you got a two-minute power play with two units.

“Guys that scored last night shot the puck and had a net-front presence. Our big guys had the puck the whole time and didn’t shoot it. You got to shoot it to have success.’‘

I have to also say that Zetterberg, Datysuk, and Franzen are supporting each other far better on the PP than they had been in the past.  twice they kept pucks in that in games past would have been down our end of the ice.  not because of skill or talent, but because of perseverance and supporting each other.

Completely agree with that PMB.  Feel like there’s more support between the D and F’s as well.
