Detroit Lines

from Bob Duff of Detroit Hockey Now,

In all likelihood, Detroit’s No. 1 unit will be composed of captain Dylan Larkin in the middle of Tyler Bertuzzi and Jakub Vrana. It’s a logical combination. Larkin will be the engine that drives play. Bertuzzi will do the dirty work in the corner and at the net front. Vrana is a natural finisher.

That leaves a second unit of Filip Zadina-Robbie Fabbri-Pius Suter. It will be up to Blashill to determine whether he utilizes newcomer Sutter or returnee Fabbri as the center on this line.

The probable third line figures to be Michael Rasmussen between Adam Erne and Sam Gagner. There’s some offense on this unit. As well, there’s size and defensive responsibility.

A number of bodies figure to be in play when it comes to Detroit’s fourth line. Mitchell Stephens will be at center. Vladislav Namestnikov and Givani Smith, who’s no longer waiver exempt, are the likely wingers.

Obviously it’s too early to have a line discussion ( and things could change after first period of the first game), but I would play Fabbri with Larkin and Bert. Fabbri and Bert have good chemistry together and I do not want Vrana facing opposing first lines.

We know Blash, he’s gonna keep ‘em all in a blender all season long.

Namestikov on the 4th line doesn’t sound like a good fit. I think I’d rather swap him and Erne.

There is a lot to be determined on who will be in Detroit on opening night, who will play where and who makes up the special teams. I hope some of the young guys make the decisions difficult.

Apparently Fabbri, Suter and Bert were on the same junior team.

Might be worth running them out together to see what happens.
