Helene St. James used to be the lead Holland apologist in this town. She's still a lap dog, gobbling and gulping every word Tick Tock says then regurgitating it to us for our naive and myopic consumption. She's a pro.

But, she's not alone anymore, not even at her own paper.

Jamie Samuelsen wants you to know he's opposed to your stance on life.

I understand that the streak has come to represent a burden for some fans. They think that general manager Ken Holland has made moves simply to keep the streak going. That’s misguided.

Remember. You can't be a Detroit columnist unless you consistently reference the unwashed fan base's opinion and then blast away at it from your elitist, 12th estate perch.

Jamee goes on and on, defending the Free Press CEO, Ken Holland, gently acknowledging Holland may have made a mistake here and there but, by god, you lose Nick Lidstrom and how can we, the illiterate ill-repute, the seedy trailer park dwelling fans possibly understand the way this league works?

Jamey's ventured into this little valley of happiness and light before. On March 4th he tearfully told us all that his Daddy deserves the chance to rebuild this team.

The Red Wings have been about one thing since Ken Holland became the GM -- winning.

Welllll, not just "winning." Kenny's also been about making the fewest trades of any team in the league. He's been about signing third tier, end-of-career free agents to prolong a streak that resulted in first round loss after first round loss after first round loss. He's been about extending contracts of mediocre players, overpaying those players by huge amounts, tying up a budget in a hard cap league, operating from a stance of ignorance that is so frigging staggering that every move seems to compound the last disgusting decision.

So, winning, check out Bet365 for Detroit's chances? Yep. Just enough regular season games to get the Wings in.

Jaimey says the Wings are loyal (we know) and he says that if Chris Ilitch can't lure the Captain back to GM this team (which he should have been doing for years if not for, you know, Holland's refusal to move upstairs next to raving mouthpiece Jimmy D) then Tick Tock Ken Holland, Samuelsen and St. James' third party in a sick triangle of enabling and weird parlor games, should be allowed to "truly rebuild this team."

I’m also a fan of rewarding a man’s work and Holland is as responsible as anyone not named Nicklas Lidstrom for the Red Wings winning four Stanley Cups and making it to the finals six times.

Vomit.

As responsible as Bowman? As responsible as Mike Ilitch? As responsible as Steve Yzerman? Shit, as responsible as Jim Nill or Hakan Andersson? Marian Hossa reached out to Holland, not vice versa.

Ken Holland was nothing but a middle man, the money distributor and the smiling overrated slick haired wonderkind who fooled us all. He is not the man to "rebuild this team."

Anyway, it's a Live Blog, bitches. The Lightning are desperate and need points. Thankfully for them, they welcome a team that Ken Holland built to lose to them.

LGRW and for god's sake #FKH and do it soon.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
