Quick Recap- Wings/Blackhawks

Wings beat the Blackhawks 6-3 tonight.

Good game for the Wings after two bad losses. Nice to see them come out strong with Dylan Larkin all over the ice in the first period.

Of course the talk will be the hat trick by Lucas Raymond.

All goals are below with a few other videos.

Team stats below too..

Added bonus that Raymond’s first hat trick will always be remembered as that night in Chicago.

Ned’s paddle save is brilliant!

With Raymond (and Seider too) we get a glimpse into what happens when you draft well. Raymond is a great talent who gave the team the opportunity to say adios to Bobby Ryan.
Seider leading in ice time both PP and PK.

We know how the org works, if the kid isn’t cutting it, the minutes get chopped. These two kids are earning it.

PS Hronek scratched again

Hear that?  That was the sound of a 19 year old kid making the team for the rest of the season.

To be fair, Raymond is filling the role we were hoping/expecting Vrana to provide. If he continues to produce how do you put him on the second line when Vrana returns? Does Vrana go to second line status? Jebus, how long has it been that us fans could even have the luxury of pondering moves like this? Things are definitely looking up.

Vrana 2nd line, which means Suter and Zadina are on notice.

Then again, the rookie wall may come and it wouldn’t hurt to sit Raymond every now and again later on. I dont know how many games he is used to playing. But im pretty sure its not 82

Unless Blashill is looking to expedite his leave, Ray isn’t going to sit ever to just sit. He’s 19. You should be able to drink all night, pass out on a coffee table upside down and then wake up at 6am to run a 6 mile marathon.

Now if he was 30, I’d expect him to take a day off when he slept on the wrong pillow at the hotel and his neck hurts.

This play shows we need to keep Leddy and trade Hronek away for more pieces up front.

We have too many D that can replace Hronek a 3/4th defenseman.

If everything stayed consistent, Zadina ends up with 20 pts this season and Vrana moves to 2nd line and Zadina 3rd line where he can play vs hopefully shittier players and maybe score more than 5 goals.

I missed why Hronek was scratched. Has their been any sort of statement from Blashhill?

Jd.. all Blashill is saying coach’s decision.  Nothing more.

Are we talking depth at the forward position that can actually score? That has been desperately needed.  It can give the coach options to mix and match lines as needed, not that Blash has ever needed a reason to quickly move people around.  What if we end up with 2 or 3 lines that are real threats to score?  Too soon.

Yeah, basically he said we have 8 NHL dmen and it’s coach’s decision who to play, but honestly I think (speculate) it has to be some disciplinary action. Hronek is NOT our worst dman and DK is proving is daily. Stetcher looked shaky in both games imo too.

Assuming everyone stays healthy (fat chance, huh), Vrana definitely goes to the second line with Suter and Fabbri. And I think they’ll be incredible together (based on what we saw from Vrana last spring). I’m not sure what got into Fabbri this year but he’s playing extremely hard. He and Suter just need a scorer on their line - like Vrana.

As for Zadina, I feel bad for the kid. Hopefully, playing with Ras and Erne/Gagner would give him some “sheltered” minutes and help him regain his confidence. If it doesn’t, he may be on his way to a new home as part of a trade-deadline package.

I’m not sure about trading Hronek, but I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised by Leddy’s play, especially his defensive play. I’d keep him if he’d be willing to sign on for two more years.

Zadina ia playing the game the right way, he is heavy on the puck, patient, shifty. He just seems to totally lose any offensive ability (unless he never had it to begin with). If he was not a 6th overall pick and was not taken ahead of Hughes, we would have been pretty happy with him, but understandably we want more. The silver lining here he is 21 and considering last season was a short season, he has not played 1 full season yet and is already expected to produce. It’s quite possible that Zadina will never become even a 20-25 goal scorer, but I think it’s still too early to say.

Could hronek possibly be involved a trade in the works we don’t know about?  Always a possibility with Steve but I just have a feeling it might be disciplinary which would be a bummer.  I could see him causing a tiff about minutes or assignments though, he’s so competitive and fiery.

Just read on here earlier that Verbeek and Maltby were in Columbus over the weekend scouting the team. If Hronek is on the block, not sure who on C-Bus the Wings would want. If Hronek is a healthy scratch on Wednesday you may be right.
