Ehn’s Been Good

from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press,

Christoffer Ehn is shoring up an audition to start next season the same place he began this one: with the Detroit Red Wings.

The 22-year-old forward earned an NHL job last fall because he’s a good skater who is responsible in his own zone and who can kill penalties. He’s played mostly wing but is versatile enough to fill in at center if needed. He’s had three stints with the Grand Rapids Griffins during the rare periods the Wings have been healthy, but Ehn will finish his rookie season of pro hockey with possibly with as many as 60 NHL appearances on his own merit.

“His impact on the game on a nightly basis has been pretty good,” coach Jeff Blashill said after Tuesday’s morning skate at Madison Square Garden. “He skates, he competes, he thinks the game well — those are three pretty good things. I think there’s more offense there and I think it’s just a matter of belief coming, but he skates, competes and thinks the game well. No matter who he plays with, he seems to do a pretty good job. He’s a pretty good athlete, seems to be able to go head-to-head against real good players when he needs to. Definitely gives us a tenacity and aggressiveness on the puck.”

Ehn’s Been Good

Gee, if only there was a way of clearing overpaid dead weight contracts to allow Ehn to get more ice time along with a guy like De-La-Rose. Faster and 1/3 the cost….. shut eye
