A Look At Prospect Adam Boqvist

from Ansar Khan of Mlive,

Adam Boqvist

Position: Defenseman

Height/Weight: 6-0/165

Shoots: Right

2017-18 team: Brynas Jr./Brynas/Almtuna (Sweden)

TSN's Craig Button says: "Real dynamic offensive defenseman. He's got that daring. I call it daring because players like him will look at opportunities and they're not afraid to take the initiative. He can make an 80-foot pass as well as he can make a 10-foot pass. He'll hold the puck. He's not willing to give it up. He's willing to hold it and break down defenders. He's got that ability to strike quick. Because he's looking to take advantage of weakness, he's always probing and that probing can be with the puck and just as importantly without the puck. He'll jump into the attack. When you use player types as a comparable, that's where Erik Karlsson comes to mind."

Summary: Central Scouting ranked Boqvist the No. 2 European skater behind expected top pick Rasmus Dahlin. Boqvist is expected to be available when the Red Wings pick sixth, but they might prefer a bigger defenseman, like Evan Bouchard or Noah Dobson, if available, or Quinn Hughes.

No thank you.

Offense-only defenseman playing on big ice with concussion issues? Hard Pass.

Keep calm, draft Bocuhard.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
