from Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun,
The NHL's new overtime format is growing on Erik Karlsson.
After calling 3-on-3 play "kind of boring" and expressing his dislike for it earlier this season, the Senators captain was singing a different tune Wednesday.
"Yeah, maybe I spoke too soon there," Karlsson said with a chuckle. "I think it got taken a little bit out of context, what I said. I by no means don't like playing 3-on-3. I do. I just think it was a big change coming from the 4-on-4 and I really liked the 4-on-4, so maybe I'm going to give (3-on-3) some time here."
The Senators have given it more of a chance than any other team, as nine of their 18 games have gone into overtime -- including six of 10 at Canadian Tire Centre.
By contrast, when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets Thursday, they will be facing a team that has yet to experience 3-on-3 play in a regular season game.
