Video- Down 3-0, The New York Islanders With 5 Unanswered Goals

10/29/2022 at 11:22pm EDT

from Adrian Dater of Colorado Hockey Now,

The Colorado Avalanche are going over to Finland all of next week to be good ambassadors for the game of hockey and, ostensibly, to enjoy themselves as reigning Stanley Cup champions. But there might just be a bag skate or two in the players’ near-term future after a total collapse against the New York Islanders in a game that seemed well in the bag before that.

Blowing a three-goal lead built through the first half of the hockey game, the Avalanche left the UBS Center as losers tonight. The final from Money-Makin’ Strong Island: Islanders 5, Colorado Avalanche 4.

Instead of a perfectly respectable 5-3-1 record heading to Finland, the Avalanche are the definition of mediocrity so far, at 4-4-1. It was already going to be a long plane ride to Helsinki tomorrow night. After this meltdown, the flight just got longer.

Below, watch the Islanders score five consecutive goals.

I was at the UBS tonight.  Saturday Night hockey on Long Island is still so special to me after all these years.  It was "70's Night' and many in the crowd had costumes and they played a lot of music from that era and Chico Resch was in the house repping the alumni.

Adrian Dater gives a good description of the game - He is a good writer.  I had no idea Gabe Landeskog was not playing - when did he get hurt?  I thought i saw him on tv earlier in the week.

Isles had wins vs. Rag$, Carolina and now the Avs in a row  -  Lambert has the D totally engaged unlike Trotz.  It is starting to pay off.   We all loved Trotz as coach - but the change here has helped.   Lane will bench veterans and they (Bailey, Beauvillier to name two) have upped their game since returning.   Team is returning to form and let's see how they are doing by American Thanksgiving.   Their goaltending has been superb.  Maybe last year was a fluke afterall.  But other teams have gotten better.

Nice ceremony honoring Josh Bailey and his family before the game.   Nice of the team to do that.   Nice of the Avs to partake.   Saw Devon Toews skate over to congratulate Josh.

There was no service on the Long Island Rail Road and traffic was a DISASTER tonight.  Took 45 mins to get out of the arena parking lot.  Last comment - I was all excited after the game  - they were distributing cases of Heineken outside the arena after the game.   However, it was Heineken 0.0     I will still try it.

Sweet............anytime the Avs get beat.
