Vegas and Colorado in an arms race
He's on LTIR, scheduled to return mid-April.
The biggest deal came in the last minute. I think he has 6 years remaining on his contract, he is 30, but obviously a huge deal.
Wheres the money to re-sign Hanifin?
if that was a rental (plus Mantha & Hertls cost) they decimated their prospect pools in the future.
So Vegas has traded this trade deadline week:
2023 1st round pick (Edstorm)
2024 2nd, 4th
2025 1st, 3rd
2026 1st, 4th
The pick for Hertl had conditions on it already from the Hanifin trade that now converts to a 2026 1st.
Yeah, future, but if I am a Vegas fan, I will be ecstatic for now
This. Win again this year and they can figure out how to fix it later. They think they can so it's all gas no brakes.
The issue is what Colorado had already and what they got. Plus their LTIR player returning in time for playoffs (Landeskog)
Over the next three years, per Capfriendly, VGK has 15 of 21 draft picks available. DET has 23, two of which are conditional.
Plus DET is exceptionally well managed with the cap.
