A few NHL teams have had a hot start to the season. Between Buffalo, Washington, Boston and Colorado, their combined record is 33-7-7.
On the other end, the New York Rangers, Ottawa, Detroit and New Jersey have a 11-25-5 combined record.
No matter their record, teams have to continue having their hockey mindset, which includes training and practicing no matter their position in the standings.
Things can defiantly change since we are still in the early part of the NHL season but do the early results either motivate the winning teams and depress the losing teams?
It must be hard on the players whose team is losing at this point and probably see no light at the end of the tunnel.
On the other hand, the successful teams are probably motivated to continue their winning ways, which includes maintaining their training and maybe giving even a little more than they normally do.
One thing every player does need to do, no matter how the team is doing, is keep training. If not bad things can happen.
Injury is one reason, players not staying in shape are prone to more injuries, including groin injuries or muscle issues.
Plus, many players can get traded at a moment's notice but if the player is not in top shape, his value decreases and the player gets tagged as someone who is not willing to work to keep his job.
But there is a positive for players on weak teams, thing can only get better and training will keep them at the top of their game when things do improve.
In closing, training and having a positive attitude no matter the situation, can only enhance the career of an NHL player and even perhaps allow the player to stay in the NHL a little longer than expected.
