BRUINS TRIO LEAD OFFENSIVE OUTBURST AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN
The trio of Brad Marchand (2-3—5), David Pastrnak (0-5—5) and Patrice Bergeron (3-0—3) combined for 5-8—13 as the Bruins erupted for seven goals at Madison Square Garden and improved to 5-0-2 in their last seven contests. Marchand (7-13—20) and Pastrnak (11-12—23) became the fourth and fifth players to reach the 20-point mark in 2019-20.

* Marchand and Pastrnak, who recorded their fifth and second career outings with at least five points, respectively, are the third set of Bruins teammates in the last 30 years to each have five points in a game. The others: Joe Thornton and Glen Murray (Dec. 28, 2001), as well as Dmitri Khristich and Jason Allison (March 14, 1998).

* The Bruins duo joined the Oilers tandem of Connor McDavid (6-15—21) and Leon Draisaitl (9-12—21) – who accomplished the feat earlier Sunday afternoon – as the second set of teammates to each collect at least 20 points through 12 or fewer games. The 2019-20 season marks the 10th instance in NHL history in which teammates on multiple teams each had 20 or more points through that span and third since 1995-96.



* The combination of Marchand (177-216—393), Bergeron (143-186—329) and Pastrnak (143-164—307) have combined 463-566—1,029 over the last five seasons and stand as the third-highest scoring trio over that span. Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Patric Hornqvist (448-625—1,073) and Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov, Steven Stamkos and Tyler Johnson (462-601—1,063) rank first and second.

* Pastrnak, who recorded the 13th instance of a Bruins player collecting five assists in a regular-season game and first such performance of his career, became the eighth player 23 or younger to register five helpers in a game since 1989-90.



* Boston was one of seven clubs which collected two points Sunday after scoring at least five goals. It marked the seventh day in NHL history (including regular season and playoffs) that every game featured at least one team score five goals (min. 7 GP) and first since April 10, 1988.

DRAISAITL AND McDAVID JOIN ELITE OILERS COMPANY
Leon Draisaitl (1-1—2) factored on both Oilers goals to boost his season totals to 9-12—21 and join captain Connor McDavid (6-15—21) as the second Edmonton player to reach the 20-point mark in 2019-20. It marks just the fourth instance in franchise history that a set of teammates each collected at least 20 points through the first 12 games of the season.



PANTHERS’ SIX-GOAL OUTING HALTS OILERS’ HOME STREAK
Aaron Ekblad, Brian Boyle and Noel Acciari combined for three goals in the first 2:36 of the second period, while Sergei Bobrovsky recorded 24 saves as Florida extended its point streak to eight contests (4-0-4) and snapped Edmonton’s five-game home win streak.

* Bobrovsky also extended his personal point streak to six games (3-0-3), while allowing two or fewer goals on three occasions.



* Florida’s trio of goals to begin the second period marked the fastest three goals to start a period in Panthers franchise history. There were two instances of a team accomplishing the feat faster in 2018-19: Montreal (1:35 into second period: Nov. 19) and Los Angeles (1:52 into third period: Feb. 5).

* The Panthers scored three goals in the second and third periods en route to victory and have tallied at least three goals in a period six times in 2019-20 - tied with Pittsburgh, Montreal and Washington for the most this season.

ISLANDERS WIN SEVENTH STRAIGHT CONTEST
Anders Lee (1-1—2) and Mathew Barzal (1-0—1) each found the back of the net as the Islanders scored five goals in a game for the first time this season and extended the League’s longest win streak of 2019-20 to seven games.

* The Islanders, who won only one of their first four contests, have strung together at least seven consecutive wins for the sixth time in franchise history and first in 30 years (9-0-0 from Dec. 31, 1989 to Jan 19. 1990).



O’REILLY, PERRON HELP BLUES SURVIVE THIRD-PERIOD SCARE
After the Red Wings scored three straight goals to erase a 3-1 deficit and take a one-goal lead with less than 10 minutes to go in the third period, Ryan O’Reilly (2-2—4) tied the game with 4:18 remaining in regulation to set the stage for David Perron’s (1-3—4) overtime winner.

* The reigning Conn Smythe Trophy winner collected his second four-point outing of the season (also Oct. 10 at OTT: 1-3—4) and became the second player in Blues franchise history to post two such performances through his team’s first 12 games of a season. The other: Brett Hull (1989-90 and 1994-95).

* Sunday’s contest marked the second time in three seasons that the Blues witnessed two players each record four points in a game. The other: March 18, 2018, when Alex Pietrangelo and Vince Dunn (both w/ 1-3—4) combined for the feat.
