from Eric Stephens of the OC Register,
In just one overtime shot, Jonathan Toews did what the Ducks couldn’t do with 39 against Chicago or the many others they’ve had across prior games. The Blackhawks captain scored 51 seconds into the extra session for a 1-0 victory at United Center....
The Ducks (1-5-2) continue to make history of a different kind. They’ve become the first team since the 1930-31 New York Americans to be shut out in five of their first eight games. They’re stuck on six goals for the season, with a new scoreless streak up to 128 minutes, 35 seconds.
And yet it was a moral victory for a confidence-shaken group. The Ducks put up a far more competitive effort from start to finish in the first game between the teams since Chicago eliminated the Ducks in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals.
A template had been created on how they have to play going forward, starting with another game Tuesday night in Dallas.
“That’s the best game we’ve played all year,” Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. “We didn’t get the end result that we wanted. I mean, that’s the way we can play. We have to build on that now and not get disappointed by it.”
