Undefeated Montreal Canadiens Lead NHL Secondary Ticket Market

10/27/2015 at 12:07am EDT

By Joe Sudberg,

One win from tying the record and two wins from breaking the record. That is what’s on the table for the Montreal Canadiens, who have had a flawless beginning to the 2015-16 NHL season by starting a perfect 9-0-0.

The Canadiens have set the record for winning all of their games in regulation, but are chasing two teams, the 1993-94 Toronto Maple Leafs and the 2006-07 Buffalo Sabres, both of whom started a season by winning their first 10 games.

For top games in the NHL this week, it’s an obvious decision to include the Canadiens as they look to continue their historic start. The Canadiens have a game on October 27th against the Vancouver Canucks to reach 10 straight wins to open a season and have two more games this weekend against the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames to possibly extend the streak to 11 or 12 games. Of the three road games, tickets to see the Canadiens on the secondary market are most expensive for the game against Calgary with an average ticket price of $276.79 and a get-in price of $92 according to TiqIQ.com. The game against Edmonton is the second most expensive while the Canucks and Canadiens game is in third.

Another high profile game this week is when the Los Angeles Kings travel to the MTS Centre to face the Winnipeg Jets on October 27th. The Kings are not Montreal-hot, but are riding a five-game winning streak after dropping their first three games of the season. The Kings are tied for first place of the Pacific division with 10 points. The Jets have 11 points but are in third in the Central division with a 5-2-1 record in their eight games. The average ticket price is $139.55 with a get-in price of $55 for that night’s game.

Lastly, the San Jose Sharks host the Nashville Predators at the SAP Center with an average ticket price of $72.75 with a get-in price of only $23 for two quality clubs. With a cheap get-in price, hockey fans can use Hipmunk.com for San Jose flights for a California hockey vacation. To complete the travel logistics, Hipmunk has San Jose hotel deals that provide options near the airport or arena.

The Sharks are tied with the Kings in the Pacific, while Nashville is off to a hot 6-1-1 start with a nine-point goal differential.
