It was an embarrassing end to the final chapter of 2017 for the Ottawa Senators.

Instead of closing out the year in style, the Senators dropped the ball 24 hours before New Year’s with a disgraceful 5-0 loss to the Boston Bruins on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 17,579 at the Canadian Tire Centre.

The Senators didn’t even give themselves a chance as they were shutout for the seventh time this season and this one wasn’t that difficult for Boston goalie Tuukka Rask, who improved his record to 10-0-1 in his last 11 with 25 stops.

It was the fifth time in December the Senators were held scoreless.
