Updated June 24:
With Jessie Schultz getting traded late yesterday from the Moose to the Thrashers organization, and incoming Dman Jim Sharrow, I thought I’d just note the transaction in this same post. From the Winnipeg Sun:
Canucks assistant general manager Steve Tambellini praised Schultz, who had a breakout season in 2005-06 with 37 goals and 67 points in 80 games and added another five goals and 12 points in 13 playoff games, on the way out.
“He’s proven he can score at the AHL-level and this a great opportunity for him,” Tambellini said yesterday in a telephone interview. In Sharrow, the Canucks are getting a 22-year-old blue-liner who shoots right-handed and has two seasons of pro experience under his belt. Sharrow is expected to play in the American Hockey League.
“He’s a big guy that has a good shot,” said Tambellini. “Our guys see some long-term upside in him.”
Sharrow, a fourth round pick of the Thrashers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, spent three seasons in the QMJHL with the Halifax Mooseheads before turning pro.
After splitting his rookie campaign between Gwinnett of the ECHL and the Chicago Wolves, Sharrow had four goals, 18 points and 38 penalty minutes in 42 games with the Wolves last season.
