Watching The Wings

11/15/2021 at 3:54pm EST

Sean Shapiro of The Athletic takes a look at the crowds for NHL games.

For instance the Wings are averaging 16,469 and playing at 84.4% capacity at the LCA.

Shapiro writes..

The Penguins and Red Wings, for example, didn’t put in COVID-related protocols for fans when it comes to tests and vaccinations out of fear they would push away certain parts of their fan base.

Detroit also has a season-ticket holder contingency based in Canada that hasn’t been able to cross the border as easily because of the COVID-protocols. With a more relaxed border, it’ll be interesting to see how that impacts the number at the gate for Detroit moving forward.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
