Simon Edvinsson's Future

06/09/2023 at 7:00pm EDT

from Bob Duff of Detroit Hockey Now,

That old adage that you can’t coach size certainly applies to the 6-foot-6, 209-pound Edvinsson. The bonus with him is the mobility and skill set that comes with his massive frame.

“For his size, he can move really well,” Walman said. “I told everybody I wish I had that size,. It helps a lot as a hockey player. It’ll be good to see him next year and see the strides in his game that he’s going to make.”

Team 33, an independent pro scouting service utilized by some NHL teams is rating Edvinsson as Detroit’s top prospect. At this juncture, the only question seems to be how dominant of a defender can he become at the NHL level?

“I think he’s a dynamic player,” Detroit captain Dylan Larkin said. “It’s not every day you see a 6-foot-6 player move like that and have vision and skating ability like that.

“He’s a very exciting prospect. I kind of expect him to really come into camp and battle. I was impressed with how he was physical, how he really understood that he was there to leave an impression and a good impression.”

One of Kaspers objectives for the 2022-23 campaign is to be contuining his education and completing his high school diploma.I want to do the third year (of high school) and graduate, Kasper told HD-Sporten. Ive always said that I want to do my schooling everywhere. Schools are important to me. Looks like he completedhis goal. He said he was going to complete his courses in Sweden. Seems to be a mature, responsible, driven young man. I like it!

Theyre 2-3 years away from being even close to serious. Sad but true. Just the way it went.

from Bob Duff of Detroit Hockey Now,

In Grand Rapids, Hirose is now sixth in franchise history in assists (124) and 10th in points (165). It will be his destiny again to fill a top-six forward role with the Griffins in 2023-24, while being on call should the Red Wings find the need for help. Hell also be tasked with helping to mentor the young forwards coming up through the Detroit system.

I think I can help the younger guys, Hirose said. Anything I can do to help any of the younger guys improve their game Im all for it.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
