Jimmy Howard was outstanding again, but his teammates continue having trouble scoring.
The Red Wings outplayed the Jets in the first period but were on their heels for most of the second and third and took too many penalties.
They gleaned some positives but still have the worst record in the NHL at 1-7-2.
"The results don't show it. That can be frustrating," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. "We did tons of stuff that will lead to longer-term success, especially in the O-zone. I thought we checked better. I think three of those (past) four games we did lots of things we need to do to be successful."
from Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News,

The Red Wings were a different team on the ice Friday from the one that looked so poor against Carolina.
But, ultimately, talent wins. On most nights these days, the Wings just don't have as much as the other team.
The Winnipeg Jets are one of the best teams in the NHL and Friday patiently took the Wings' best punches before finally defeating them 2-1.
Below, watch the game highlights and post-game interviews.
