The Detroit Red Wings will be seeking their fifth consecutive victory tonight when they face the Boston Bruins at Little Caesars Arena (7:30, NBC Sports Network exclusive).
A Red Wings victory and a regulation loss by the Sabres against Columbus tonight would tie Detroit with Buffalo for 27th overall.
The final week of the regular season will determine the odds for the April 9 NHL Draft Lottery. The Red Wings (30-38-10, 70 points) are two points behind the Sabres and three points back of the New York Rangers.
Detroit could finish as high as 26th, resulting in a 7.5 percent chance of winning the lottery. At No. 27, the odds are 8.5 percent, followed by 9.5 percent (28th), 11.5 percent (29th), 13.5 percent (30th) and 18.5 percent (31st).
If the Red Wings gain at least one more point this season, they will not finish last overall.
