A four-day break, the longest of this shortened, condensed season for the Detroit Red Wings, came at a good time, coach Jeff Blashill said.
It provided two days of much-needed rest and a couple of important practices.
“We had a couple days where we didn’t skate, one was completely off, except for (COVID) testing, and one just for a lift,” Blashill said. “I thought the energy coming back from those days was tremendous. Hopefully, it carries forward to tonight.
“Both practices allowed us to reset ourselves a little bit, systematically make sure our structure is real good. We’re a team that has to play with great structure. I think it came at a good time, close to the midway point of season. Gave us a chance to get refreshed and reset.”
