I just don't think the wings really have the second best odds. Especially considering they've got two/three other teams they have to be better than.

The only saving grace is playing mtl but I never get warm and fuzzies no matter what.

I don't understand the odds either. Washington has to beat Boston at home and Flyers on the road. Unfortunately they can do it.

The Wings have to outpoint everyone because of the Regulation Wins deficit.  If theyre basing that on opposition the Wings are capable of giving up goals to anyone and then have to bust ass to make up for mistakes.  Its an exhausting strategy and only successful sometimes.

Who's In Goal Tomorrow?

from Bob Duff of Detroit Hockey Now,

Clearly, Reimer is giving the club a boost during his limited opportunities to work between the posts.

He just battles, Detroit coach Derek Lalonde said. No matter what happens, we know were gonna get the most out of him and when he battles, I think it just lifts the group.

Hes 7-2 over his last nine decisions. However, the 36-year-old puckstopper has been given successive starting assignments just once since late December.

Lyon Carrying Load For Red Wings

Since returning from injury in late December, journeyman veteran Alex Lyon, 31, has been seeing the bulk of duty between the pipes for Detroit. Hes been in the net in 36 of the last 45 games played by the Red Wings.

This season, Lyon has established career highs for games (43), wins (20) and shutouts (two).

Edvinsson has looked good. Really enjoy having and seeing him on the NHL roster.

I hope he is not only on the roster next year, but some other Yutes as well. I know they need to be ready. But boy would it be nice to see one or two of them.

Albert Johansson and either Mazur or Kasper. Kasper I believe has an outstanding summer with some more strength. Danielson I believe will add some strength, add more to his shot and breakout speed. Should be interesting. Kasper and Danielson will be nice additions at some point.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
