Ansar Khan of Mlive,

More than five weeks later, Bertuzzi hasn’t practiced since, and it doesn’t appear he will return anytime soon.

“It’s just been a longer process than we realized,” coach Jeff Blashill said. “That happens sometimes with injuries. We just kind of sit and wait until he’s fully healthy and ready to get back at it.

“I think he’s progressing, moving in the right direction, but I don’t have a timeline.”

Bertuzzi has skated a few times, on his own and with injured teammates. The unspecified upper-body injury isn’t a concussion, and a shoulder, arm or hand injury would enable him to skate, so that reduces the list of potential ailments.

Blashill said it is unclear whether the injury will have long-term effects.

“Anytime you have an injury you’re always worried about the effects it has on somebody long-term, so we’ll see,” Blashill said. “Hopefully, it gets healed and he’s able to be 100 percent and not have it nagging at him over the course of time. But a lot of people as they go through their careers have nagging injuries. It doesn’t mean it keeps them from playing and being real productive.”

from Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News,

“I felt pretty good,” Larkin said Sunday after practice in a Zoom chat with reporters. “It’s kind of a day-to-day thing. The big thing is (Monday) and see how it feels and take it from there.”

Larkin is aiming to play Tuesday, but it’s not a lock.

“I’d say that exactly,” Larkin said.

Coach Jeff Blashill wasn’t sure about Larkin’s availability for Tuesday, either.

“We have two days to find that out,” Blashill said. “I don’t anticipate one way or another right now. We’ll find out as we go through it. He finished the practice today, so that’s a good sign.”

With the Wings reaching the halfway mark of the season after Thursday’s game, Larkin is hopeful the Wings can finish strongly and put a positive spin on this season.

At 7-16-3, the Wings have the exact same record as last season, when the Wings went on to finish last in the NHL.
